This year, the BigDataOcean project participated in the European Big Data Value Forum, in November 2018 in Vienna.
What is the European Big Data Value Forum?
The European Big Data Value Forum is a European conference which aims to bring together researchers, key industry stakeholders, and policy makers in the maritime domain. Its purpose is to provide a forum and context for productive discussion of the challenges and opportunities of data-driven innovation in Europe. In 2018, the Forum took place in Austria, due to its assumption of the Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
The conference was very productive for the BigDataOcean project. Synergies with the Big Data Value Association (BDV) were reinforced, in conjunction with new synergies potentially being created with Transforming Transport, an EU-funded project aiming to transform the transport paradigm. Inspiring conversations were had as well with a representative of the Deusto Faculty of Engineering of Spain, about new and exciting opportunities for Big Data startups in the EU maritime ecosystem.
