Last week, Exmile(MarineTraffic) presented the H2020 BigDataOcean project at the 12th annual meeting of marine technology in Athens, Greece (H.I.M.T.).
Why is H.I.M.T. important, what is it about?
Through its sponsorship, BigDataOcean managed to boost the project’s reach in a conference, organised from Hellenic Institute of Marine Technology, that attracted more than 500 maritime professionals. At the BDO booth, members of the consortium had the opportunity to explain how the project aims to cover the gap between shipping operations and digital transformation and answer key questions for the shipping industry. The partners were able to interact with various stakeholders from the maritime industry and demonstrate the solution to interested parties.
Specifically, BDO partners pointed out the project’s objectives and they demonstrated to all stakeholders that approached the booth the ease of use of the platform focusing on basic platform functionalities, such as the data exploration tool, the query designer tool and the request a service tool. In addition they showcased the four pilot cases of the project highlighting the potential benefits to be gained from using the platform.
Moreover, during the second day of the conference, Giannis Spiliopoulos (MarineTraffic representative) presented the potential benefits of BigDataOcean platform to different types of maritime stakeholders that attended the event. The presentation’s focus was to demonstrate how an end-user can take advantage of the platforms end-user services by taking advantage of the underlying components and infrastructure.
