BigDataOcean was presented at MATES 2017

MarineTraffic presented the BigDataOcean project and some preliminary results on extracting vessels’ moving patterns during the MATES 2017 workshop (Mobility Analytics for Spatio-temporal and Social Data) that was held on the last day (September 1st) of the VLDB 2017 conference in Munich.

The MATES 2017 workshop focused on the combination of multiple data sources from domains that rely heavily on spatio-temporal data management, such as the maritime, aviation and land domains.
The combination of these domains with social data is expected to address existing and raise new scientific challenges on transportation management and planning, traffic control, immigration control and security, interconnected surveillance systems, and flow management.

The MATES 2017 workshop was partially supported by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme datAcron: Big Data Analytics for Time Critical Mobility Forecasting under grant agreement No 687591.
